Advertising Breakthrough: The Cheapest Way To Buisness Growth through “Killer Offers”

Over the last few years I cannot believe how many ads I have seen that don’t have a specific offer. When you advertise you want people to take action, you want the phone to ring or the traffic into the premises to increase. You also want people to take action NOW, because in a few minutes they will have forgotten about your ad, or whatever promotion you are running. Here are the 6 steps to implementing a killer offer in your marketing.

Step 1-Think about your target market, and in particular the top 10% of your clientele (you know, those who often provide 80% of your turnover). Get into their minds and think of what would sound like a great value offer to them. Beware “token” offers are the best way to give your business a bad image

Step 2- Come up with several killer offers. It could be a gift of 10% of the lifetime value of your average client. It could be a draw to win something of very high perceived value. If you are selling furniture, it could be a lounge suite or a 5 day retreat for 2 in Fiji…etc. Then choose the offer most likely to trigger action from your target market.

Step 3- Determine what you want people to do when they see your ad, whether you want them to buy now, enquire about your product or service, or give you their details for ongoing follow ups.

Step 4- Clearly tell people what to do and spell it out so it is black and white to them.

You want action? Describe what kind of action you want! It’s a bad idea to assume that your prospects will work out what to do.

Step 5- Be sure to tell them when the offer expires and how limited the supply is for what you are selling. Scarcity in time or supply is the surest way to get response. Miss this point alone and your ad could be guaranteed to fail. By the way you MUST stick to your self imposed supply restrictions, or your clients will never trust you again.

Step 6- Determine the best “first impressions” system for handling these potential new customers who come in with their “Killer Offer”. You will have to treat them BETTER than regular clients and make sure they will want to come back. How can you maximise the first sale? (Up-Sell, Cross Sell etc…)

Do yourself a real favor and test this more than once. Once you have found the best killer offer, keep using it with some variations but the same style. By the time you have experienced success with this, you will never again spend huge dollars on a pretty ad with beautiful design features.
