Business Growth: Killer Offers Versus Traditional Advertising

The natural way of thinking for a business owner is “ Hey I’m here to sell my product or service at the best,
most profitable price possible”. And that’s fair enough, you are not here to give it away! Sales must be profitable
,so compromising your price is going to get you nowhere in the long term.

When you want to grow your clientele however, you always need strategies to “buy” new clients, and of
course there is a huge variety of possibilities to choose from.

Using FREE products or services as a marketing tool is  counter intuitive for business owners. They almost
regard it as a “cop-out”. But once you have experienced the results it can generate and the variety of options it
gives them to turn their customers into loyal advocates, you will never look back….My point is if you have to choose between a $500 newspaper ad and giving away $500 worth of product or service to get new clients on board you will immediately find the following benefits:

1) It only costs you if new customers take you up on your offer

2) Your only cost is wholesale, or staff time

3) You can market it through referral programs and joint ventures at NO COST

4) You know exactly how many customers this offer will bring in, so you can calculate your return on investment

5) If you take into account customer lifetime value for a 3 year loyal client, it’s easier to decide how much to give away in the first place
Because owning a business is such a busy affair it is easier to revert to traditional advertising because it is “passive”, plus  the publisher will even  “design” the ad for you…
So here is the question though, do you want to buy new clients by paying cash up front  for an ad that has no guaranteed results, or do you choose to pay for your marketing only when a customer comes to you
for the first time? And at wholesale price?
The common denominator between the direct, non-traditional marketing methods, is that they
require quite a bit more work. But they also carry such a low price tag and high results that traditional advertising
seems a waste of time in comparison.

So do yourself a favor and implement at least 3 new direct, measurable killer offers this year and start counting the new clients it generates.
