Do you know what your customers want?
If you provide your customers with what they need, business might do OK, but if you know how to give them what they WANT, business will be booming.
The question is, how straight forward is it to find out exactly what they want?
NOW before you go thinking “I have been in this business for 30 years, I know what my market wants, better than anyone!”, I would like to remind you how a very established company like General Motors had been market leaders in their field for a very long time, but still had to be bailed out by taxpayers!
How does that happen? Just forget to keep your finger on the pulse for a while in times of rapid change, and suddenly before you know it you have stepped over edge of the cliff, your clients have gone to your competitors!
So how do you do it? How do you get an honest account from your clients on what they are REALLY expecting? Remember people have a tendency not to tell what they don’t like in your product or service, and suddenly you find out that they voted with their feet.
The answer is simple: keep asking them, and find various ways to ask them until you find out! Once you know their WANTS of today (Not what they wanted yesterday), you are in control!
What tools do you have? Hop over to www.surveyonkey.com and you will have a way to survey not just locally but WORLD WIDE, what your market expect. But if you do have a functional database, send your clients a letter and give them an incentive, a gift to encourage them to fill in the survey. It has to take 7 minutes maximum.
You can also use www.GoogleEasySearch.com and research what words your market uses to find your product on line: all you have to do is enter in the box a phrase like “Electricians”, click “All countries” in the advanced options, then click “search”. You will find out all the related searches under similar words and how many monthly searches there are for each key word or key word phrase. It’s a great way to know what your clients have in mind when they look for product or service in your industry. That might give you an idea of what words to have in the title of your website, or even on your brochures, flyers etc…

Have a great week out there

“Hope doesn’t come from calculating whether the good news is winning out over the bad. It’s simply a choice to take action.”
