Will Google Succeed With Google +?

It seems like Google has ignored a couple of the very fundamental rules when starting a new venture, even if it addresses your existing client base:

  1. Always do your research to make sure there is a hungry market for the new product you are creating
  2. OR only create this new product if your clients had eagerly requested it, showing that there was an obvious gap to fill
  3. If you are creating your product in reaction to a fast growing competitor, you MUST ensure that you have a very obvious point of difference. That can be  by addressing a mounting discontent in your competitor’s product, or by adding enormous value, or by making the new product much more user friendly

At first glance it does not appear that Google has satisfied any of the above conditions. So are they falling victim to the “walk on water” syndrome, being too powerful for their own good? Could they end up regretting not having stuck to their knitting?…

Only time will tell
